MARION JUNCTION, Ala. -- William Lee "Pete" Anthony, age 75, formerly of Oran, Mo., passed away July 16, 2012.
He was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Gray Ridge, Mo., to the late Bernard and Hazel Anthony.
Pete is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Shirley Anthony; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Donna Anthony and Gary Anthony; two grandsons, David Anthony and his fiancee, Kristi Tupper and Alan Anthony and his fiancee, Kayla Rockett; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Dixie Anthony of Grantville, Kan.; a sister, Betty Perry of Kinmundy, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Charles Broadhead; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Ward and Carol Broadhead; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pete was a member of the Selma Masonic Lodge No. 926 F&AM and had served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1956. He was employed for over 20 years at AutoZone where he loved his job and helping people with their cars. He enjoyed life and loved spending time with his grandchildren and his five cats. He was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church and loved his pastor, church family and members of the Dick Bean Ready Sunday School Class. He loved hanging out at Frankie Rodger's store and with the Marion Junction Gang. Pete will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Anthony.
Funeral services were held today at the Selma Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Eaton officiating. Interment followed in Pineview Memory Gardens with the Selma Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were: Alan Anthony, Dan Taylor, Michael Fondren, Robert Ingram, Jerry Little and Dexter Bright.
Honorary pallbearers were his Sunday school class, George Troha and Tom Moore.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Vaughan Regional Medical Center for their care of Pete.
