SIKESTON -- Veterans in the area who have returned from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan looking for someone who understands have a place in Sikeston tailor made for them.

As of Thursday, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3174 will have provided a place where those who have been an American soldier in a foreign land can gather for 70 years.

VFW member Roscoe Vaughan is among those who have found a place there for nearly that long.

"I'm a World War II veteran," Vaughan said.

Vaughan said he became a member of Post 3174 around 1949 or '50.
