PADUCAH, Ky -- Southeast Missouri residents should take precautions as the heat continues to smother the region.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning through 7 p.m. Thursday for the region. Maximum afternoon heat indices today through Thursday will be around 105 degrees, according to the Weather Service. Minimum heat indices at night will generally be in the mid 70s.
According to the Weather Service, the long duration of heat indices make heat-related illness more likely.
