PARMA -- Sylvia Jane Gregg passed away at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 10 days on July 22, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Malden.
Born Nov. 12, 1921, in Hartville, daughter of the late Wm. Lewis and Roxie Lee Ward Cravens, she had lived all of her life in Parma where she and her husband had owned and operated Gregg's Grocery. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parma and the Parma Senior Citizens Club.
On Oct. 14, 1936, in Bloomfield, she married Amos C. Gregg who preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1976.
Also preceding her in death were two children, Ronnie Cravens and Joanne Cravens, six sisters, Gracie Shaw, Laura Johnson, Alta Ramsey, Mable Cravens, Imojean Tipton and Margaret Ordiway, and five brothers, Gilbert Cravens, Dale Cravens, Riley Cravens, Floyd Cravens and Franklin D. Cravens.
Surviving are: four daughters and two sons-in-law, Phyllis and Dan Biggs and Jane Daniels of Parma, Bertha Morgan of Wickliffe, Ky., and Linda and Wayne Babcock of St. Ann; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Phillip Gregg and Kenneth and Doris Gregg of Parma; three sisters-in-law, Bea Cravens, Margaret Cravens and Ethel Cravens; one brother-in-law, Smokey Johnson; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25 at the First Baptist Church in Parma with the Rev. Kerry Stokes of Charleston officiating.
Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery near Essex with the Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Parma in charge of arrangements.
