EAST PRAIRIE -- Larry L. Pope, 73, died at 10:55 a.m. July 24, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Aug. 12, 1938, in East Prairie, to the late Perry Martin and Lucille Marie Cooper Pope, he lived all of his life in East Prairie. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in East Prairie and the Charleston Masonic Lodge No. 407 AF&AM. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
He was formerly married to Pat Bisher Pope who preceded him in death July 21, 2011.
He is survived by: one stepson, Danny Cooper of East Prairie; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Kim and Floyd Butler of East Prairie; two brothers, Ron Pope of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Billy Moore of Kewanee; three sisters, Jane Viets of Charleston, Charlene Bradham of Lake Norrell, Ark., and Barbara Summerlott of East Prairie; three stepgrandchildren and one step-great-grandson; and a special friend, Barbara Sanderson of East Prairie.
Visitation is scheduled after 6 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with a Masonic service by the Charleston Lodge to be conducted at 7 p.m.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Buddy Hannah officiating.
Burial with full military rites conducted by the Missouri Funeral Honors Program will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Floyd Butler, Parker Butler, Barry Blumenberg, Jim Taylor, Jerry Redfering, Jim Bo Taylor, Bill Adkisson and Carlin Hutcheson.
