SIKESTON -- Thomas Daniel "Danny" Meeks, 67, of Sikeston, died at 4:02 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Dec. 14, 1944, in Cairo, Ill., to the late Elmo and Helen Taylor Meeks, he graduated from Sikeston High School in 1962 and had worked at Potlatch Forest Packaging Company in Sikeston. He began doing custom printing work at home in his garage in 1967 and in 1972 opened Meeks Printing Company at 198 S. Stoddard Street where it operated until 1991 when he moved the business to its current location at 222 North Main. He served as the owner-operator of Meeks Printing until his death.
A member of the Sikeston Jaycees and an active member of the Sikeston Little Theater, he was also instrumental in forming the Cottonmouth Supercross BMX Bicycle Motocross Track at the Sikeston Sports Complex in 1985. He was a longtime member, deacon and choir member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston and had also been a member of the Sikeston Community Choir.
On June 6, 1964, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston, he married Pauletta Pierce who survives of the home.
He is also survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Debbie Meeks of Sikeston; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Leven Cox of Sikeston; two sisters, Diane Evans of Kennett and Debbie Scott of Smithfield, Va.; and four grandchildren, Ian Meeks, Caroline Meeks, Sam Cox and Charlie Cox of Sikeston.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Fellowship Baptist Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Joe McCullough, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston with the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be: Mark Crocker, Kevin Heuiser, Rick Houston, Tom Ayers, Jim Null and Keith Bateman.
