SIKESTON -- Virginia Eloise Marsh, age 86, died July 27, 2012, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Ellington, daughter of the late Leslie William and Winnifred Larkin Sanders. She spent 29 years as a math and science teacher at the Sikeston Junior High and Middle School. In 1991, she was named the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year and received the Missouri State Teachers Association Southeast District Meritorious Service Award. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston serving as Church Council secretary for 32 years; United Methodist Women serving as an officer at the local, district and state level; and Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Eastern Star and Friday Morning Prayer Group.

On March 6, 1946 she married William Robert Marsh, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1998.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Pat Marsh of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and John Burton of Sikeston; one daughter-in-law, Katie Marsh of Salem, Ill.; two nephews, Doug (and Kay) Marsh and Randy (and Marilyn) Boeller; one niece, Jan (and Lonnie) Schneider; seven grandchildren, Chris Curtis of Mounds, Ill., Kerri (and Shawn) Richards of Salem, Leslie (and Seth) Hahs of Salem, Chris (and Angie) Grojean of Omaha, Neb., Erin Newsom of Jackson, Ill., William R. (and Tara) Marsh III of Salem and Jacob Marsh of Aurora, Co.; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, William R. Marsh II, and one sister, Erma Lee Boeller.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until time of funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

The Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
