For the past two years, Lamar, Colo., has captured two Midwest Plains Regional tournament championships -- both played at Sikeston.
Their latest, the 12U Regional which ended Tuesday with Lamar winning yet another championship.
The Colorado team defeated Mineral Area 6-4 in the finale of the tournament. Lamar's Colton Eberhardt hit a 3-run home run in the third inning to untie the contest.
Mineral Area, who bounced Sikeston from the double-elimination tournament Monday, had to win their first game of the day against Paola, Kansas to even sniff a regional championship.
Mineral Area ended up defeating Paola 4-0 to climb into a championship game with Lamar.
Lamar, being the only undefeated team left, needed to be brought down twice in order for Mineral Area to claim the tournament.
The team from up north needed just one championship game to put their stamp on the eight-team tournament.
Lamar advances to the 12U 70' Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland which is held at The Ripken Academy.
