SIKESTON -- The Sikeston City Council is accepting Citizen Resource Bank applications from residents seeking to participate in the city's governing process.
More than 100 volunteers currently serve on the city's 17 boards and commissions. There are 38 board and commission terms that will expire this year. Of these, 12 will be under consideration for new appointments.
Volunteers are needed to serve on the Park Board, Rental Ordinance Appeals Board, Tourism Advisory Board, Traffic Committee, Strategic Plan Implementation Commission and SEMO University-Sikeston Campus Advisory Council.
Residents seeking appointment to these or other board and commission positions in the future are asked to complete and submit a Citizens Resource Bank application. Applicants should have no unpaid taxes or fines.
Applications can be accessed and filed electronically from the city's website at www.sikeston.org. Application forms are also available at Sikeston City Hall and the Sikeston Public Library.
Applications received by Aug. 22 will be submitted for consideration by the Council for appointments scheduled to be made during the City Council's appointment process this year. Applications received after Aug. 24 will remain on file for two years.
