SIKESTON -- Cecil Edwin Higdon, 84, died at 8 a.m. Aug. 3, 2012, at his home.
Born Sept. 25, 1927, at Osceola, Ark., to the late Clay and Dell Cooper Higdon, he was a lifelong resident of this area and had attended school in Matthews. He had worked as a painter at General Steel in St. Louis for 32 years and was also a farmer. He was a member of Potter House Ministries in Sikeston.
Survivors include: two brothers, Jerry Higdon and James Higdon of Sikeston; and two sisters, Kathryn Higdon and Willie Higdon of Sikeston. Three nephews and two nieces also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Higdon and Johnny Higdon; and two sisters, Annie Higdon and Inez Higdon Nolen.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. John Givens, pastor of Potter House Ministries, officiating.
Burial will follow at New Morley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Namon Pearson, James Smart, David Lynn Evans Jr., Jonathan Givens, Chase Tinnon and Luther Boyette.
