SIKESTON -- Clarence Hilterbrand, 92, died Aug. 4, 2012, at the Missouri State Veterans home in Cape Girardeau.
Born Dec. 27, 1919, in Ellsinore, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Bessie Mae Hayes Hilterbrand, he served in the Third Division of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. After the war, he was employed as an office manager for Scott-New Madrid County Rural Electric Cooperative and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston.
On July 13, 1948, he married Gladys Lee Branum, who preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 2007.
Survivors include: one son, Ken Hilterbrand of Jackson, Miss.; one daughter, Carol Hovis of Broadlands, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Leanne Thele, Kelly Hilterbrand, Cheryl Slatinsky, Curtis Hovis, Samuel Hilterbrand, William Jackson and James Jackson; and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services will be begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
Pallbearers will be: Curt Hovis, Sam Hilterbrand, Trey Parker, William Jackson, Andy Thele and Mark Kreutsberg.
