PUXICO -- Sindy Cochran, 79, died Aug. 6, 2012, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 15, 1933, in Asherville, to the late Edward Lee and Lucy Florence Julius Metcalf, she had lived most of her life in Puxico where she worked at the Puxico Press as a proofreader and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the VFW Post 7822 Ladies Auxiliary and the Thursday Culture Club.
On Jan. 27, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., she married Fred Cochran who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1994.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Denise Scates and Donna Cochran, two brothers, Virgil Bounds and Tom Metcalf, and one sister, Merle Jewell.
Survivors include: one son, Dennis Cochran of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Debra Jones of Fruitland; one sister, Pearl Medley of Poplar Bluff; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Justin Miller of Puxico officiating.
Burial will follow in the Puxico Cemetery.
