EAST PRAIRIE -- Richard Thomas Farquhar, 62, died at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 5, 2012, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Dec. 8, 1949, in East Prairie, to the late Merrell Renfrew and Lynn Edith Cox Farquhar Parker, he had lived in East Prairie most of his life. He was a retired Baptist minister serving most of his ministry at the Freewill Baptist Church in East Prairie.
On Dec. 31, 1972, at East Prairie, he married Edna Ruth Portwood who preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 2009.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty J. Heck, Helen Ruth Farquhar and Alice Muldoon.
Survivors include: two daughters, April Tidwell of Dexter and Sylvia Farquhar of Sikeston; three brothers, Frank Farquhar of East Prairie, Willie Farquhar of Bertrand and Bobby Farquhar of Bowling Green, Ky.; one sister, Lillie M. Lewis of Cordova, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Bill Adkisson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
