Slack continues at 60th Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo

SIKESTON -- Day two of slack got underway on Tuesday at the 60th annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo with barrel racing and steer wrestling.

Highlighting the evening's action was Sikeston native Carrie Potashnick taking sixth place in barrel racing with a time of 17.49 seconds on her run. Thomas' time left her over a second behind the Kaley Bass' pace as she took top honors by finishing in 16.30 seconds.

Alicia Stockton was second on the afternoon with 16.97 seconds while Jesse Alsup's time of 16.98 was good for third. Rounding out the top five was Tammy Kowalski and Sandi Brandli with times of 17.00 and 17.14 seconds respectively.

In steer wrestling, where a competitor's two runs are combined for an aggregate time, Tyler Harris' total of 10.7 seconds was good for first place. In second, Zack Cobb completed his rounds in 11 seconds while Clayton Morrison finished in a distant third place with 16.3 seconds. Shane Henderson was fourth with 18.3 seconds while Justin Smith's time of 19 seconds was good for fifth place.

Action will continue on Wednesday with the official opening to the rodeo set to get underway at 7 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m.
