PORTAGEVILLE -- Retha "Viola" Farmer, 102, died Aug. 5, 2012, at Benchmark Healthcare in Portageville.
Born May 14, 1910, in Muse, Okla., daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Young Reid, she was a Member of the First Church of God.
On Nov. 2, 1928, in East St. Louis, Ill., she married Leo Farmer, who preceded her in death in 1975.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Donald Farmer; one daughter, Olamae Farmer; one son-in-law, Lawerence Mathenia; six brothers, Mack Reid, Frank Reid, Fred Reid, Wiley Reid, Douglas Reid and L.C. Reid; and three grandchildren, Larry Mathenia, Tina Faye Dean and Ross Eugene Farmer
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Leo "Gene" and Euladean Farmer of Portageville; one daughter, Leota Faye Mathenia of Pacific; and seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted today at First Church of God in Portageville with the Rev. Bob Kespelher officiating.
Burial followed in the Portageville Cemetery.
DeLisle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
