Two are charged in area burglaries

CHARLESTON -- A Mississippi County resident woke up to discover a burglar in his home. Now the suspect is behind bars.

Matthew Scofield, 21, of Charleston, was arrested Wednesday and is charged with first degree burglary.

According to Sheriff Keith Moore, an county resident reported waking to discover Scofield in his home. The victim left the room to check on his wife and upon returning found Scofield gone and multiple items missing.
