DEXTER -- James "Dub" Holman, 89, died Aug. 13, 2012, at his home.
Born May 28, 1923, in Featherston, Okla., to the late Walter Franklin and May L. Moody Holman, he had lived most of his life in Jefferson County until 1981 when he moved to Bloomfield. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Alpha Portland Cement Company for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the Faith Apostolic Church of Sturdivant and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II.
On Aug. 13, 1952, in Green County, Ark., he married Lue Ellen Kelton who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: six sons, Rodney James Holman and Eddie Holman of Hurst, Texas, Richard Holman and Cecil Holman of Dexter, Neal Holman of Wappapello and Dale Holman of Advance; two daughters, Vickie Medley of Dexter and Hope McCullough of Bloomfield; one brother, Leroy Holman of Festus; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. Sidney Holman, and four sisters, Vada Bruce, Sybil Morrison, Ruby Elouise Reece and Polly Reando.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Michael Dutton of Marks, Miss., will officiate with the Rev. Robert Hart assisting.
Burial with full military rites will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
