MOREHOUSE -- Thomas C. "Tom" Sanders, 53, died Aug. 14, 2012, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 19, 1958, in Gideon, to the late John Thomas and Velma Leona Bohannon Sanders, he had lived most of his life in the Morehouse area, had worked as a heavy equipment operator at Brown Sand and Gravel and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Dexter Eagles Aerie No. 4062, and the Sikeston & Poplar Bluff Eagles Aeries, V.F.W. Post No. 2659 in Dexter, the Sikeston American Legion and was past president of the Jaycees Iron Mountain Lodge in Morehouse.
On Feb. 22, 1987, in Morehouse, he married Brenda Joyce Stroud, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: a niece whom he raised, Tomma King of Delta; a grandson, Ty Cody King of Delta; five brothers, Terry Sanders of East Prairie, David Sanders of Bloomfield, Jeffery Sanders of Matthews, Randy Sanders of Collman, Ala., and Jay Sanders of New Madrid.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Cody Dayton King; and one sister in infancy, Pamela Sanders.
Visitation is from 5-8 pm. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Jimmy Vent of Charter Oak officiating.
Burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
