SIKESTON -- A four-part workshop next month in Sikeston aims to reach out to grandparents raising grandchildren and make them aware of the resources available to them in their new roles.
The free workshop series, "Parenting the Second Time Around," will be offered at the Sikeston Public Library from 1-2:30 p.m. every Thursday in September.
Mary Engram, human development specialist with the University of Missouri Extension, who leads the grandparents raising grandchildren support group in Mississippi County, said the goal of these workshops is to help grandparents and other caregivers feel more confident, comfortable and informed about the community resources available to them.
"It's a nice way to get quite a bit of information out in short period of time," Engram said.
