YMCA event combining Healthy Kids Day and community carnival

SIKESTON -- Teaching kids to eat healthy and take care of themselves can sometimes be difficult, but the YMCA of Southeast Missouri is looking to make it a bit easier by adding fun into the mix.

The YMCA Healthy Kids and Community Fun Day will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at the YMCA North Field in an effort to promote health and fun while giving back to the community as well.

In years past, the YMCA has held the event by itself but this year, in an effort to attract even more kids, Healthy Kids Day will be combined with the popular community carnival.

"YMCA's across the country have Healthy Kids Days and have for years," said Jeff Partridge, executive director of the YMCA of Southeast Missouri.
