MOREHOUSE -- Michael McDowell, 61, died Sept. 29, 2012, at his home.
Born Sept. 14, 1951, in Sikeston, to the late Walter Eugene and Vivian Taylor McDowell, he was a member of Blodgett Baptist Church. He retired as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a retired concrete truck driver for Delta Concrete.
On June 4, 1976, he married Paula Scudder who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tobias McDowell of Baton Rouge, La., and Michael Robert and Laurajo McDowell of Sikeston; one daughter, Sarina Rene Watkins of Sikeston; two brothers, Earnest Morefield of Murphysboro, Ill., and Walter Lee "Junior" McDowell of Wappapello; one sister, Rachael Gaylon McDowell of Wappapello; and nine grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Randy Thomas, pastor of the First General Baptist Church of Morehouse, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
