SIKESTON -- Donald Dewayne Self, age 55, died at his home in Sikeston on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012.
He was born Oct. 25, 1956, in Kennett, to Don and Jerrolyn Pritchett Self. He was a member and Deacon of Miner Baptist Church; he was an avid golfer, hunter, a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was employed by United Parcel Service.
On Oct. 7, 1978, he married Wendy Baker who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jared and Kaci Self of Sikeston and Brent and Heather Self of Ironton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Beverly Self and Brian and Dana Self all of Sikeston; one sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Darryl Griggs of Sikeston; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Willy Heath Self on April 28, 2004.
Friends may call after 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Ponder Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at Miner Baptist Church on Thursday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mitch Jackson, pastor of Miner Baptist Church, will be officiating.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
