PUXICO -- Velma Virginia Elizabeth Duke, 82, died Oct. 1, 2012, at her son's home in Puxico.
Born March 6, 1930, in Farrenburg, to the late Andrew and Hattie Bear Carroll, she had lived in Belleville, Ill., and New Madrid County most of her life and had recently moved from Bloomfield to Puxico. She was a member of the Mormon church.
On Jan. 7, 1950, at Piggott, Ark., she married Raymond Duke Jr. who preceded her in death July 15, 2012.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Roger Duke, on Oct. 21, 1999, and one daughter, Raymona E. Duke, on Dec. 19, 2011.
Surviving are: two sons and daughters-in-law, James Ray and Linda Duke of Dexter and Louis Wayne and Nancy Duke of Puxico; two brothers, J.D. Carroll of Killeen, Texas, and James "Woody" Carroll of Durant, Miss.; and 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Burial will be in the Dogwood Cemetery.
