"We gave it our best, but Kennett's team is just so strong 1-6," Sikeston head coach Russ Dial said.
With Sikeston already trailing 5-0 and mathematically eliminated, the top seed matchup that paired the Lady Bulldogs' Kelsey Dial against Kennett's Anna-Kay Hilburn was retired before it could play out.
At the time the meet was called Dial had already won the first match 6-2 and had fought to a 1-1 tie in the second.
Though they're out of the running in the team tournament, the Lady Bulldogs season is still alive as they prepare to play in the Class 1, District 1 individual tournament Saturday morning at Notre Dame high school in Cape Girardeau.
