CRANE -- Pierce Burton Jr., 85, died Oct. 6, 2012, at the Ozark Mountain Healthcare Facility in Crane.
Born May 31, 1927, in Knoxville, Ark., to the late Pierce and Murl Margaret Carter Burton Sr., he lived most of his life in Southeast Missouri before moving to Crane several years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran and of the Pentecostal belief.
On Nov. 10, 1978, he married Nina Laree Carney who preceded him in death Jan. 23, 1999.
He was also preceded in death by one son, John Craig Burton, one brother, Harold Burton, and one sister, Pauline Pixley.
Survivors include: two sons, Ken Burton of Saltillo, Miss., and Paul Burton of Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters, Kay Fitzgerel of Salt Lake City and Pam F. Davis and Terri Matlock of Galena; one sister, Jewell Cox of Paducah, Ky.; and 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at 1 p.m. in the Dexter Cemetery.
