POTOSI -- Sikeston senior Kelsey Dial's final step in to the Class 1 state tournament couldn't have been much easier as her scheduled opponent on Tuesday forfeited.

Dial was suppose to face Class 1, District 2 tournament second-place finisher Buse Beker of North County in Potosi, but due to the forfeit will advance to the Class 1 state singles tournament.

She'll have time to practice before heading to Springfield next week where the tournament will take place at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

In the other sectional match, Dexter's Baylee Cooper was defeated by Pauline Thieule from Windsor High School 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
