BERTRAND -- Billy Joe Wilkerson, 76, died Oct. 9, 2012, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Sept. 18, 1936, at Wyatt, to the late Joseph Aaron "Joe" and Wretha Violet Ervin Wilkerson, he had lived in Bertrand most of his life and owned and operated Wilkerson Trucking for over 45 years. He then owned and operated T and J's Package Store. A former member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Charleston, he was of the General Baptist belief.
On July 13, 1957, he married Gracie Delk, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: four sons, Bryan Wilkerson of Sikeston, Derrick Wilkerson and Dale Wilkerson of Bertrand and Wade Wilkerson of Lovelaceville, Ky.; one daughter, Kim Davis of St. Louis; two brothers, Bobby Wilkerson of Memphis, Tenn., and Terry Wilkerson of Mountain View; one sister, Patricia Arington of Little Rock, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Billy Joe "Bill" Wilkerson Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Todd Crumley will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
