CHARLESTON -- The Sikeston Junior High girls basketball team opened the season on a high note Tuesday night, sweeping Charleston.
The seventh grade Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 43-15 win behind 17 points from Gloria Bennett. Sikeston jumped out to a 12-2 lead after one quarter and led 20-6 at halftime.
In eighth grade action, Sikeston held Charleston scoreless in the first half, building a 25-0 at the break and cruised to a 44-7 win. Kayla Graham led the Lady Bulldogs with nine points.
Sikeston will be back in action tonight when they travel to East Prairie to take on the Lady Eagles with the seventh grade game beginning at 6 p.m.
