CHARLESTON -- Mississippi County office holders and employees have enjoyed some of the best health insurance coverage in the area but are facing a steep hike to keep it that way.
During the regular County Commission meeting Thursday, the county's health insurance agent, Charley Tinsley of the Thompson Insurance Group in Charleston, presented information about Anthem's renewal offer.
"Things are pretty bleak for the county," Tinsley said.
Renewing the same health insurance plan the county has now would take a 36 percent rate increase, according to Tinsley.
"It's ugly," he said. "The underwriter who worked on this said this was the worst he's ever seen -- in 27 years."
