CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Leonard Joseph Murski, 82, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at The Lutheran Home.

He was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Brenham, Texas, to the late William Peter and Stella Kopycinski Murski. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant after serving more than 20 years from 1948 to 1969. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War. Leonard worked for Proctor & Gamble for seven years and retired in 1990 after working 15 years as an electrician for Noranda Aluminum in New Madrid.

On Dec. 15, 1962, at Biloxi, Miss., he married Rosie Madeline Watkins, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1999.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death in 2002 by one son, William Joseph Murski; two brothers, Bob Murski and Carl Murski; and one granddaughter, Melissa Jackman.

Survivors include: one daughter, Michelle Anderson of Saint Augustine, Fla.; one stepson, Tom Preston of Cape Girardeau; three stepdaughters, Vivian Gail Davis of Laclede, Vickie Preston of Bellevue, Neb., and Chyrl Devoy of Brookfield; 12 grandchildren, Jamie Jackman, Michael McDonald, Jeffery Preston, Jonathan Neighbors, Chuck Szachta, Dillon Devoy, Madeline Devoy, Kayla Murski, Meghan Murski, Noah Murski, Hanna Anderson and Caroline Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Jackman, Allison Jackman, Jacob Jackman and Anastasia Szachta; two sisters, Dorothy Hurley and Irene Murski of Dallas; and two brothers, Jim Murski of Little Rock, Ark., and Jack Murski of Brenham.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
