MEMPHIS, TENN. -- W.C. "Dub" Eckles, 55, died Oct. 15, 2012.
Born Nov. 8, 1957, in Dundee, Miss., to Murlean Gladney Eckles of Sikeston, Mo., and the late Henry Eckles Sr., he was a 1975 graduate of Sikeston Senior High School. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from Rust College in Holly Spring, Miss., in 1979, he returned to Sikeston and became a physical education teacher with the Sikeston Public Schools. Later he was employed with New Egg Distribution of Memphis and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church of Memphis.
In 1981, he married Brenda Dorris-Eckles.
On Dec. 15, 2001, he married Congeda Love-Eckles, who survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are: one son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Kimberly Eckles of Memphis, two stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, Terrence and Rachael Johnson and Cedric Johnson of Memphis, five brothers, Hosie Gladney and Leslie Joe Eckles of Memphis and Joseph Eckles, Michael Eckles Sr. and Henry Eckles, Jr. of Sikeston; three sisters, Prince Gibson of St. Louis and Vercie Smith and Bonnie Eckles of Sikeston, three stepbrothers, Josh Boyd II and Mose Boyd of Sikeston and Aaron Boyd of Springfield, Ill.; five stepsisters, Brenda Grant, Linda Driver, Stephanie Price and Laura Boyd of Sikeston and Sharon Boyd of Springfield; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday at E.H. Ford Mortuary Services, 3390 Elvis Presley Blvd. in Memphis. Funeral Service will be at noon Saturday at Riverside Baptist Church, 3560 S. Third St. in Memphis, with the Rev. George L. Parks, pastor, officiating.
