GRANITE CITY, Ill. -- Ervin Everett Brokaw 93, died Oct. 13, 2012, at his home.
Born Nov. 17, 1918, in Harrisburg, to the late Everett and Lilli Black Brokaw, he was the longtime owner/operator of Lazy Lee Resort in Table Rock Lake, Mo., and worked for Archer Daniels Midland. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Granite City and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.
He first married Lela Steward who preceded him in death. He later married Mildred Brown Nicholson who survives of Charleston, Mo.
Other survivors include: two daughters; Donna DiStefano of O'Fallon, Mo., and Erva Ennis of Ozark, Mo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Judith Brokaw of Wood River; a brother, Norman Brokaw of Elsa; two sisters, Joyce Evans of Houston and Shirley Parmley of Granite City; and 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services were conducted today at the Irwin Chapel in Granite City.
Burial with full military rites followed at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
