Sikeston's junior high splits with Kennett Lady Indians

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston eighth grade girls basketball team handed the visiting Kennett Lady Indians their first loss of the season after a 50-34 win at the Sikeston Junior High.

Both Zayteanna Williams and Kiera Steward each had 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs while Marissa Jones added seven.

Sikeston pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Kennett 12-4.

During the seventh grade game, a late basket that broke a 16-all tie fell Kennett's way as the Lady Indians took an 18-16 victory over Sikeston.

Gloria Bennett led the Lady Bulldogs with seven points. Montanah Sullivan chipped in four.

Sikeston held a slim 6-5 lead at halftime but fell to the wayside in the third when Kennett outscored them 6-2 to take an 11-8 lead.
