PORTAGEVILLE -- Donald F. Underwood Sr, 74, died Oct. 28, 2012, at his home.
Born Jan. 8, 1938, in Cushion Lake, to the late Ansel and Elsie Smith Underwood, he was a member of the First Church of God in Portageville where he formerly served as a trustee and on the building committee. He was a very prominent farmer in Southeast Missouri and served on the St. Francis Levee Board for several years.
On March 15, 1957, in Hernando, Miss., he married Wanda Stafford who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Justa Underwood of Portageville; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Craig Genteman of Ozark; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Carolyn and Richard Worley of Hornsby, Tenn., Joyce Vinyard of Houston and Ann Medlin of Caruthersville; a sister-in-law, Peggy Underwood of Portageville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Carolyn Underwood and Mark and Sheila Underwood of Portageville; four grandchildren, Josh and Lou Underwood of New Madrid, Drew Underwood of Portageville and Luke and Shelby Genteman of Ozark; and one great-grandchild, Emmaline Underwood of New Madrid.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Underwood.
Visitation is scheduled after 5 p.m. today at the DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of God with the Rev. Bob Kespelher officiating.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
