SIKESTON -- Landlords with properties in Sikeston will have almost two additional months to get their required paperwork in to the city.

During a special meeting Monday, the City Council approved an amendment to city code which changes the deadline to Jan. 31 for the submission of annual rental housing property registration forms.

City Manager Doug Friend said city code previously had Dec. 1 as the deadline for landlords or property managers to submit a list of all their rental properties as required by the city's rental registration ordinance along with registration of all their tenants.

As of that date, landlords or property owners would be subject to fines if they had not complied with the requirements.
