Kennett junior high sweeps Bluejays, beats Portageville

KENNETT -- The Charleston Bluejays junior high basketball teams were swept by Kennett Thursday at Kennett High School. The seventh grade boys lost 49-40 and the eighth grade fell 45-30.

Charleston's Kayarri Lee led the Bluejays with 20 points in the seventh grade game. Mordareyon Clark and Jeremy Tucker added nine and eight respectively.

Kennett, who will play New Madrid County Central Monday at 5 p.m., was led by Jordan Wilson's 15 points. Datavion Turner chipped in 12 while Brenton Todd had 10.

The eighth grade Bluejays fell behind 17-2 after the first quarter and Kennett never looked back.

Jaquavis Rodgers had 10 points for Charleston. Jamerius Fisher had eight.

Tyreik Thomas, Jaylean Kinnon and Jarvis Stewart each had nine points for the Indians.
