SIKESTON -- Orval Lee Boze, 63, died Nov. 6, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 19, 1949, in Pop City, son of the late Alvie and Gladys Fraizer Boze, he was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served as an engineman and fireman. He received the Navy Commendation Medal and a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War. He was employed by his lifelong best friend, Rick Evans, and was of the Baptist belief.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Robertson of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Edward Lee and Crystal Boze of Charleston; three daughters and one son-in-law, Dana Cockrell of Sikeston, Roberta and Jonathan Coleman of Poplar Bluff and Jennifer Gibson of Robinsonville, Miss.; two brothers, Clarence Boze of Bell City and Harley Boze of Scott City; one sister, Drella Stark of Dewey, Okla.; and 12 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, John Cockrell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Dewayne Kirkpatrick, pastor of Diehlstadt General Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial with full military honors will follow at 3 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Pallbearers will be: Benny Johnson, Tim Sills, Caleb Cockrell, Josh Cockrell, John Coleman and Matt Fry.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Chance Cockrell, Ethan Cockrell, Braden Gibson, Blake Coleman, Logan Coleman, Christopher Coleman, Hunter Lawfield, Tanner Boze, Colton Boze and Mike Oliver.
