HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- Larry Joe Averett, 72, died Nov. 8, 2012, at his sister's home near Dexter, Mo.
Born June 23, 1940, at Cape Girardeau, Mo., son of the late Kenneth William and Gussie Westerfield Averett Sr., he was a member of the Hot Springs Village Church of Christ, a former member of the U.S. Army National Guard, was active in the Hot Springs Tennis Association and played the trumpet in the Hot Springs Community Band. A former sales representative for the Levi Strauss Company in the Kansas City area, he was named the most outstanding sale representative of the year.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth W. Averett Jr.
He is survived by: one sister, Jane Flowers of Dexter; one brother, Michael Averett of St. Charles, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from noon until time of services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston, Mo.
