SIKESTON -- Individuals interested in running for election to the Sikeston R-6 School Board can begin filing for candidacy next month.
Filing in the R-6 district for the April 2 school board election begins at 8 a.m. Dec. 11 and ends at 5 p.m. Jan. 15 at the office of board secretary Bryan E. Nickell, 219 S. Kingshighway in Sikeston, board members noted during Tuesday's regular monthly meeting.
Board members whose three-year terms will expire are Scott Crumpecker and Mary White-Ross.
Also on Tuesday, Nikki Vaught, R-6 health services coordinator, briefed the Board on the past year's health services within the district.
"We do have very top-notch nurses working in every one of our school buildings," Vaught said. "All but two of us work at the hospital as well to try to keep up on our current skills and knowledge."
School nurses would like to continue to attend workshops to keep up with the health and welfare of students and all of the technology in healthcare, Vaught told the Board.
"I've received quite a few compliments concerning our nursing department and the school nurses. They're doing an outstanding job," said R-6 Superintendent Tom Williams.
