JACKSON -- The Sikeston eighth grade girls basketball team ended their season with a third place finish at the Jackson tournament in Jackson.
They defeated Cape Central 41-24 and finished the year with a record of 11-4.
"This season was full of peaks and valley's," head coach Keyth Blissett said. "I preached all year of playing consistent basketball and if we did that, we would find ourselves successful."
Larysa McClellon led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points in Thursday's win while Madeline Witt added nine and Kiera Steward chipped in six.
In all, eight Lady Bulldogs registered points in their final game of the year.
"Junior high basketball is definitely developmental ball," Blissett said. "We have talent and things are looking up for years to come. Everybody, from top to bottom, is working together to get this program where it used to be. The future is promising."
The eighth grade team will be holding an inside yard sale at Terra Nova Church to help raise money for a future trip to the Show Me Games in Columbia later this winter.
All items that will be available for purchase as part of the sale have been donated. T-shirts and long sleeve shirts will be available for purchase as well for $10 and $15.
Starting at 9 a.m., visitors of the sale will be able to choose a player from the team to either challenge in a 3-point shoot-out, a free throw shoot-out or a friendly game of P-I-G for $1.
If you have items you'd like to donate as part of the sale, contact Jennifer Bles at (573) 587-9903.
