CHARLESTON -- Even residents not yet old enough to vote will have a voice on Charleston's new community betterment committee.
Moving Charleston Forward, a special committee charged with identifying ways to move the city in a more positive direction, was established Tuesday by the Charleston City Council.
"At the time I was was first interviewed by the City Council back in August, we talked about this kind of a format and have periodically discussed it since then so it's been something that's been incubating for about three months," said Richard Goode, city manager.
In anticipation of forming the committee, a list of potential members was contacted in advance to see if they were willing and able participate.
