ST. LOUIS -- Beatty P. Miller, 93, formerly of Sikeston, died Nov. 14, 2012, at Friendship Village Chesterfield in St. Louis.

Born Dec. 18, 1918, in Osage County, to the late John Jefferson Miller and Dice Rhoads Miller, he was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces serving in Italy and North Africa. He had been a manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in the Bootheel area for more than 30 years, coming with the company to Sikeston in 1949. In 1941, he graduated from Southwest Baptist College, with an associate of education degree. In 1975, SBU awarded him their Life Service Award.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hoffmann Miller of St. Louis; and a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Miller and George Thacher Guernsey IV of St. Louis.

A son, Curtis Lynn Miller, preceded him in death in 1960.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 1 at the Parkway Baptist Church located at Olive and Ross in St. Louis.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Useful Cemetery in Useful, Osage County, near Linn.

The Ortmann Funeral Home in Overland is in charge of arrangements.
