SIKESTON -- Delphy Louise "Dude" Newton, 92, died at 3:30 a.m., Nov. 24, 2012, at her daughter's home.

Born Jan. 21, 1920, in Clarksville, Ark., to the late Huse and Viola Baccus Sindle, she was a member of Cross Roads of Hope Community Church for many years.

On Feb. 20, 1937, in Vanduser, she married Heartsill Newton, who preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1974.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters and one grandson.

Survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Earl and Shirley Newton and Danny Austin Newton of Sikeston and Benny and Sue Newton of Morehouse; four daughters, Beatrice Chappell, Peggy Umfress, Patricia Johnson and Debbie Deroush of Sikeston; one sister, Lillian Short of Dexter; and 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Marvin Butrum and Rick Ramsey officiated.

Burial followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Tim Chappell, Dennis Chappell, David DeRoush, Steven DeRoush, Gaylon Newton and Doug Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Hannah, Ricky Williams and Ronnie Hannah.
