CHARLESTON -- Lillie B. Smotherman, 95, died Nov. 29, 2012, at the Charleston Manor.
Born Nov. 13, 1917, at Tiptonville, Tenn., to the late Benjamin and Velma Lou Adams, she had lived most of her life in Mississippi County where she had been employed for a number of years with the Brown Shoe Company and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.
On Oct. 5, 1945, she married Cortell "Ted" Smotherman who preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, B.W. Adams, Lewis Adams, Layton Wade Adams and Rueben Adams, two sisters, Mattie Ethridge and Betty Jean Walden, and one grandson, Dustin Lee "Dusty" Smoot.
Surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Delila Whitehead of Wynne, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Rick Smoot of Charleston; three grandsons, Ted Richard Whitehead, Kenneth Eugene Whitehead and Jordan Ray Smoot; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of the memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Michael Brewer, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate.
A private burial will be held at a later date at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
