Sikeston ninth grade blasts by Jackson, Jr. High splits with Tigers

JACKSON -- The Sikeston ninth grade basketball team rolled past Jackson Wednesday night 61-29.

Earnest Fobbs led the Bulldogs with 16 points as Sikeston cruised out to a 10-5 lead after the first quarter and then extended their advantage to 26-16 at the half.

Sikeston (4-0) came out of the break and outscored Jackson 16-9 in the third quarter to separate themselves even further.

Jaylen Mallory added 11 points while Dominique Dyes scored nine. Juwon Kimble and Cedric McIntyre each added eight.

Eighth Grade

Cape Central 51, Sikeston 17

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston eighth grade basketball team fell on the road 51-17 to Cape Central Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs (3-6) were looking up at the Tigers early on as Cape Central jumped out to a 25-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.

Jason Moore led the Bulldogs with four points.

The eighth grade will be off until Jan. 3 when they host Cape Central.

Seventh Grade

Sikeston 72, Cape Central 54

The seventh grade Sikeston boys basketball team continued their winning ways Wednesday taking care of Cape Central 72-54.

The Bulldogs held a 15-10 lead after the first quarter, which ballooned to an 11-point lead (35-24) at the half.

Sikeston outscored the Tigers 37-28 in the second half sealing the win.

Fred Thatch led all scorers with 28 points, Austin Branch and Bryce Bays each chipped in 14 for Sikeston as well.

The Bulldogs are now 10-0 and will play their last game of the season tonight in Jackson at 5:30 p.m.
