JACKSON -- The Sikeston seventh grade boys basketball team finished their season with a perfect 12-0 record following a 52-35 win over Jackson Thursday.
On top of finishing undefeated, this Bulldogs team had the most wins for any seventh grade team in it's short existence. It's also the third time in the last five years Sikeston has had a seventh grade program the Bulldogs posted a spotless record.
"From top to bottom they worked really hard. We accomplished every goal we wanted to," Sikeston seventh grade coach Eric Voorhees said. "Going undefeated is very difficult to do and all the credit goes to the hard work the players put in. I'm very proud of them."
The Bulldogs had a huge effort from Fred Thatch who scored a game-high 32 points. Austin Branch was second in scoring with six points.
Sikeston jumped out ahead 11-1 after the first quarter but faced some adversity in the second when Jackson outscored them 15-12.
The Bulldogs went into the half with a 23-16 lead.
Sikeston would go on to extend their lead in the third, outscoring the Indians 18-10 to secure their 12th win in a row.
Luke Selvig added five points while Keyth Blissett scored four. Sikeston shot 8 of 10 from the free throw line.
