WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Former Scott County Central standout Bobby Hatchett led Arkansas Tech past Midwestern State in a double overtime game 75-73 Saturday in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Hatchett totaled a career-high 22 points as the Wonder Boys spoiled Midwestern's 19-game home winning streak in the process. The Mustangs are the three-time defending NCAA Division II South Central Regional champions.
The Wonder Boys (4-4) took the lead for good after Hatchett's steal and layup with 50.8 seconds to go in the second overtime.
Hatchett, a junior, was 4 of 12 from the field but went a solid 14 of 18 from the free throw line. He also tallied four rebounds, four steals and three assists in 35 minutes.
Through eight games with Arkansas Tech, Hatchett is averaging 8.9 points per game and shooting 46 percent from the field. He's also putting up 3.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals a game as well.
He's third on the team in minutes played (23.8) and has started five games.
The highly-touted guard played at McLennan Community College as a sophomore and Midland College as a freshman before joining Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Ark.
The Wonder Boys' next game will be a home game Wednesday against Mid-America Christian University.
