SIKESTON -- Christmas came early for several Southeast Missouri families today, as the "elves" associated with the Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign delivered food and gifts.

A total of 200 families -- primarily from Scott and Mississippi counties, but also in New Madrid and Stoddard counties -- received the 100 food baskets and 100 toy baskets. This is all part of the sixth annual event, said David McDermott, event coordinator and deputy juvenile officer for the 33rd judicial circuit.
