EAST PRAIRIE -- Roe Jackson, 80, died at 4:32 a.m. Dec. 24, 2012, at his home.
Born Sept. 15, 1932, in New Madrid, to the late Willis Earl and Ida Mae Stanfield Jackson, he lived all his life in New Madrid and Mississippi counties where he was a retired heavy equipment operator and attended the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie.
On June 19, 1954, he married Lavona M. "Donie" Shackelford who preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 2010.
He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Sally, Dolly, Tutor, Janice and Maudie Lee.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James "Butch" and Carla Jackson, Bill and Sarah Jackson and Mike and Donna Jackson of East Prairie; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lori Brack of the home and Missy and Ivan Leonard of O'Fallon, Ill.; two brothers, William Travis "Sonny" Jackson and Gary Wayne Jackson of Harold, Ill.; three sisters, Imogene Day of Matthews, Reva Bargetzi of Highland and Ida Mae Gillreith of Breeze, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Sonny Jackson officiating.
Burial followed in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jim Bob Jackson, Tommy Jackson, Willie Jackson, Ivan Leonard Jr., Trevor Leonard and Jerred Jackson.
Honorary pallbearer was Jamie Jackson.
