Long-time county treasurer closing books on public career

NEW MADRID -- For nearly 20 years, Tom Bradley has kept New Madrid County in balance.

Bradley, who has served as New Madrid County's treasurer since Jan. 1, 1994, will turn over his accounts to newly elected treasurer Steve Riley today. But before he leaves office, no doubt he will check one last time to ensure every penny is properly placed.

"Tommy is the epitome of what a treasurer should be," said New Madrid County Clerk Clement Cravens. "You never wondered if things were balanced or not, because they always were."
